As I've started my Christmas Reveals, here is another vignette from my Pink & White Christmas guest room.
I've massed vintage pearl necklaces with jewelry on a silver platter, with a large Putz-Styled church, bottle brush trees, and lace to achieve a neutral, but festive display.
I decorated a rather large bottle brush tree with Bethany Lowe tinsel, rhinestone brooches and buckles, and a lace trim that my great-great grandmother saved. She was an avid sewer.
This fun Victorian reproduction cone, as well as the bottle brush tree are from Through The Garden Gate several years ago. The Putz Style church was a gift from a friend last year.
I've collected rhinestone brooches for about 5 years now. There is just something about the sparkle that attracts me to them.
The tarnished silver tray is from one of way too many I have.
Tips to achieve this look:
1. Mass like items together--by placing all of my rhinestone brooches on the one tree it makes for greater impact.
2. Stick with a neutral color scheme. The creams and off-whites play off each other nicely and get a good dose of festive sparkle from silver glitter, and the rhinestone jewelry.
3. By placing everything together on a large platter it instantly connects the items so they flow together.
4. Watch scale and height--you want your items to balance. You don't want to use a huge (in this case a 2' tall bottle brush tree) with a tiny Putz house--nor do you want to use tiny trees with a large Putz house.
5. Work in odd numbers. I used three completely different items, linked only by color to use in this vignette--use your imagination.
Here is one more shot of the bed. Since this bed is so high, I used a large pink chenille bed spread as a bed skirt, then topped it with a white chenille bed spread to help tone down the pink and further emphasize the pink and white color scheme in the room. A frequent question I get is for the wall color--this photo is nearly true to real life as far as color goes. The wall color is Mint Gelato by Martha Stewart for Valspar for Lowe's from 3 years ago. She is now at Home Depot and I'm not sure if you can still get this color mixed.
