Home Office Re-Do

My home office slowly but surely became something resembling an episode of "Hoarders". My friend Ronnie and I spend several days fixing it up! It all started with and Annie Sloan Chalk Paint project of a new bookcase from Home Decorators.

This bookcase was the first project! I bought this bookcase from Home Decorators:

(Thanks, http://www.homedecorators.com/, for the photo!)

My friend Ronnie and I painted out the shelves in Annie Sloan Chalk Paint. We used Paris Grey--no sanding or priming makes the splurge of this paint worth it. It took about a coat and half to cover! Wow! I spray painted the dark metal bits with Rust-Oleum Cold Galvanizing Compound

I spritzed the galvanized parts with vinegar once the paint dried to darken the color some. I read somewhere that toilet bowl cleaner does a better job, but I'll try that on my next project as I was pleased with the results:

This room is still a work in progress but I wanted to share the make-over thus far! There is a useless closet in the room, so I upholstered right over it! I used two painters' canvas drop cloths to cover the wall and disguise the closet door. The fab industrial lamp and clock came from work (Petersburg Pickers). If you didn't know, I'm now the operations manager at my region's largest estate liquidation firm. Check us out--we're open EVERY OTHER Thursday - Saturday in our 10,000 square foot warehouse in historic Old Towne Petersburg, VA. It's Best Pickin' on Thursday, Half Price on Friday, and 70% Off on Saturday! If you are anywhere within a day or so by car, it is totally worth the drive, plus there are several STUNNING B&Bs and other places to stay, plus yummy food!

I love faux bronze statues!

Old French souvenirs and the infamous Peeing Boy of Brussels are personal favorites.

. . .as are Statues of Liberty.

An overflow of my coral, shell, and trophy collection live here, as well. The photos are all of my grandmother and her family from the 1940s.

Ex voto hearts, flower frogs, and trophies fill up the shelves.

A fun pair of bronzed shoes add to the mix. This is one of HUNDREDS of hymnals I own.

More flower frogs, and another trophy.

More trophies, and a fun postcard holder I got from Cindy at My Romantic Home.

Another crown, more trophies, and a pair of silver plated birds round out this corner.

You can see me in the mercury glass orb! It is resting on a ball jar lid! The chalkware Jesus is a favorite part of my religious item collection. The thorns are very sharp on the crown! In the background is part of a Gothic fence post.

I love this message board!

Sorry for the horrible quality of this photo, but I just got this chandelier hung after having it in a box on the floor for well over a year! I bought this from Amy at Maison Decor! I'm soooo happy to finally have it up! Thanks, Joe & Wanda for your help! FYI--Joe is the one responsible for my FABULOUS kitchen! He did all the install and carpentry! Hopefully I'll get this room completely finished. I have much more editing and changing around of stuff, one more piece of furniture to paint, and some general tweaking to do still. Plus I'm in the middle of re-doing my laundry room, so bare with me until I can share it all!!!
